Research Interests

One of the greatest challenges in wildlife conservation today is addressing the rising levels of man-wildlife conflict, which can lead to catastrophic mortalities among wildlife populations and growing negative perceptions among communities that live with wildlife. The Ecoexist Project aims to reduce human-elephant conflicts (HEC) and foster coexistence between humans and elephants through a number of focused, integrated management tools and strategies that provide immediate and long-term solutions. The DPhil student will be working as part of an interdisciplinary research team investigating various ecological and social aspects of human-elephant conflict in northern Botswana.
