Research Interests

The effective use of resources, the legacy and future of the plastics is of critical global importance. The student will be part of a research group that is conducting pioneering research on chemical aspects of the Circular Economy. The details of any DPhil project would be defined in discussion with the student, but are likely to entail a significant chemical synthesis, materials characterisation and catalytic testing. Projects would include developing new ways to functionalise CO2, the use of CO2 as a monomer for the next generation of polymers, and the development of new recyclable barrier packaging materials.
