Research Interests

The research team specialise in generating of viable sensors for a range of agents; these have include organic toxins, such as herbicides, organophosphate agents, proteins and heavy metals. A DPhil project could be formed under any of these headings, to potentially include both new receptors and new analytical approaches based on electrochemistry. The group also routinely use a whole range of spectroscopic approaches and have been active in collaborative projects with the US Army, the food and drinks industry, Big Pharma and Diagnostic companies, in generating, sensitive viable devices that can be operated in a lab or “out in the field”.  A particular focus has been the use of label free electroanalytical approaches that can be exceedingly sensitive, multiplexed, portable and cheap.
