Research Interests

The provision of decision-relevant and usable information to support adaptation and mitigation decisions at the national and sub-national levels is a growing area of research with support at the national and European levels, as well as globally. This research would be aimed at supporting the development and delivery of these climate services; drawing on an understanding of climate science and the needs and capabilities of users and providers of those services. Specific details of a DPhil project would be defined with the candidate, but will likely entail  working on the boundary  between climate science and the provision of climate services to understand and demonstrate the value of climate services in informing decisions, and developing and promoting climate services that meet the needs of the myriad of users and providers of climate services.  The focus of this research will be on the UK and Europe, but there is also the potential of working in other countries.
