Research Interests

Melanie Gibbs, based at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, is an evolutionary ecologist interested in how climate and land-use changes affect invertebrate populations and communities.  Her current research is focused on determining how spatial and temporal environmental heterogeneity in fragmented agricultural landscapes affects butterfly reproduction, dispersal and population dynamics.  She will co-supervise with Peter Holland, Zoology.

Associated Research Streams

maternal effects, reproductive plasticity, life history evolution, climate change, habitat fragmentation, insect ecology
