Research Interests

We undertake cross-disciplinary research using mathematical approaches to explore novel, exciting and rewarding problems in ecology and evolution. Research in the group addresses a wide range of questions broadly concerning population biology (in population dynamics, community ecology and evolutionary ecology). Many of these projects involve the development of theoretical models in conjunction with experiments or observations in the field or laboratory. To this end, we aim to test different hypotheses by using relevant mathematical models and approaches appropriate to experimental (or observational) data. Recent projects focus on Allee effects in butterflies, community biodiversity and phylogenetics and the evolutionary ecology (evolution of parental care; evolution of ageing)

Associated Research Streams

mathematical ecology, population dynamics, community phylogenetics, evolutionary ecology, evolution of parental care, evolution of longevity and senescence
