All modern reptile clades (including birds) originated during the Mesozoic Era, and their evolutionary dynamics and history can only be fully understood via the fossil record. The student will be part of a research group that uses phylogeny, biomechanics, macroecology and palaeobiodiversity estimation to understand the evolutionary and ecological influences that helped to drive the initial radiations of these clades. Future DPhil projects are likely to combine specimen-based and modelling approaches to tackle palaeobiological questions on dinosaurs and other Mesozoic reptiles.
