Achieving water security for growth and development in tropical countries is an increasingly urgent challenge.  The mobile water for development research group partners Engineering Science, Geography and the Smith School and the Environment to develop, test and evaluate new approaches and tools. Future research is likely to build on managing groundwater risks for poverty reduction, the role of mobile technology for monitoring water security at scale and the role of enterprise in environmental management. Current work is conducted in field sites in East Africa with a wider network of opportunities linked to global partners, such as UNICEF.
