Welcome to Challenging Honesty in Net Zero Claims, part of the 2025 Grand Challenges seminar series!

Transparency is critical to achieving Net Zero. This event will explore the challenges of verifying Net Zero claims, strategies for holding stakeholders accountable, and recent progress made at COP29.

Join us at the Jesus College Conference Centre on Tuesday, 3 June 2025, for an expert-led discussion on building trust and credibility in climate action.

 

Chair:

Myles Allen: Professor of Geosystem Science in the Environmental Change Institute, School of Geography and the Environment and Department of Physics, University of Oxford. "The Physicist behind net-zero"

Panelists:

Baroness Natalie Bennett: Former leader of the Green Party of England and Wales, with efforts to address climate change and promote sustainable practices. She also is a journalist and continues outreach work following her tenure.

Sebastien Cross: Co-founder of BeZero Carbon, a carbon ratings agency focused on transparent and unbiased carbon assessments in the voluntary carbon market. His work centres on helping companies invest in net-zero strategies through carbon avoidance and removal.

Josh Gabbatiss: Climate policy correspondent at Carbon Brief, as well as a journalist with articles investigating global and UK-specific climate policy. His recent focus has been on COP29 and its impact on global climate finance.
