NERC DTP Administrative and Finance Officer

Grade 6: £30,502 - £36,386 pa pro rata

The Doctoral Training Centre is seeking a new member to join our team for this interesting and pivotal post which brings together aspects of the administration and finance of the NERC Environmental Research Doctoral Training Partnership with the development of the Doctoral Training Centre’s management of output impact, our communications strategy and our high-profile initiatives in EEDI.

The role involves a wide range of administrative and finance procedures, working closely with academic and administrative colleagues across the University, current students and alumni.

You will play a vital part of the ongoing success of the Doctoral Training Centre by supporting the team with forthcoming applications for continued funding and working specifically with the NERC DTP Programme Manager on a wide variety of tasks such as recruitment, admissions, on-course student administration and finance using Oracle R12, with overall responsibility for the management of casual payroll for teaching staff, using People XD, for which training can be given.

You will be responsible for the DTC’s electronic newsletters and social media presence, being proactive in new initiatives with communication and will manage the content of the DTC website to ensure news items are regularly updated as a dynamic marketing tool.

You will develop and maintain effective methods of communication with DTC alumni to procure measurable data regarding the impact of DTC students on academia and society for use in grant funding proposals and reporting, working with the University Alumni Office to ensure GDPR compliance.

You will service the DTC Student and Staff EEDI Committee and champion EEDI initiatives and awareness throughout the Centre, ensuring information is communicated effectively and that EEDI legislation is adhered to across our teaching and other activities. You will also be responsible for advertising and promoting EEDI funding opportunities.

To be successful in this role, you will be a team-focussed, extremely organised individual with strong interpersonal skills and a professional attitude. You will have experience of financial management, have strong written and oral communication skills and have an awareness of current EEDI issues and challenges.
