Betina A.V. Frinault

Prior to participating on the Oxford NERC DTP (NPIF) I was researcher on the “Antarctic Futures” project at Somerville College, Oxford, with Professor Alex Rogers. We worked in association with the Pew Charitable Trusts and a consortium of internationally dispersed specialist researchers and NGOs, assessing the impact of climate change on the Southern Ocean including marine biodiversity, ecology, environmental parameters and ecosystem services and provisions.

I hold an MSc with distinction from the University of Oxford specialising in the high seas and deep-sea mining implications; and seamount marine-life of the Southwest Indian Ocean.

I graduated from the School of Ocean Sciences, University of Bangor with a 1st class honours in Marine Biology specialising in cetacean response to anthropogenic impact, extreme marine environments, and impact of climate change on key species of the Southern Ocean food web.
