Academic Profile

Before coming to Oxford I completed an MEarthSci in Geology and Physical Geography at the University of Edinburgh.

Current Research

My D.Phil research will focus on constraining eruption parameters from a series of events in between explosive, caldera-forming eruptions from the Campi Flegrei volcanic zone, Southern Italy. This work will span the period from before one of Europe’s largest contemporary eruptions, the Campanian Ignimbrite (c. 39 ka), to the Neapolitan Yellow Tuff eruption (c. 14 ka). A combination of volcanic glass chemistry and petrological analyses will be used.

Understanding how key eruption dynamics change in between and preceding large, explosive eruptions has implications for hazard risk assessment at this volcanic zone.
