Academic Profile

I graduated from the University of Southampton with an MSci in Marine Biology in 2021. During my integrated masters, I conducted two dissertations examining the isotopic composition of polar fish otoliths (inner ear bones) to infer their field metabolic rates. I then modelled how this changed with water temperature to look at species specific thermal tolerances. After graduating, I worked as a Marine Laboratory Scientist for an environmental consultancy for two years. There I gained skills in benthic invertebrate taxonomy and physiology, and conducted boat based field work across the river Thames.

Current Research

My current research focusses on shark fisheries in Ecuador. I am aiming to examine the abundance of shark populations in the region, the socio-economic drivers behind these fisheries, and methods to reduce shark mortality overall.
