My work focuses on shark ecology and conservation, with a particular interest in improving shark conservation and the sustainability of their fisheries in regions that may be remote, data-deficient, or have limited governance. A key aspect of my research is emphasising positive outcomes for fishers and other stakeholders across the value chain. I’m especially interested in understanding the drivers behind potentially illegal fishing behaviour in these contexts.
Current Research
Currently, I am developing Baited Remote Underwater Video System (BRUVS) techniques to monitor shark populations in large, remote marine protected areas and critical nursery grounds for endangered species.
