Academic Profile

I completed my BSc Honours degree in Zoology in 2022 and then an MRes in Ecology and Environmental Biology in 2023, both at the University of Glasgow. For my honours project I examined the impact of an urban gradient on the variation in biodiversity of the soil macroinvertebrate community. For my masters, I focused on monitoring methods for deer population management. In my masters research project, I compared method efficiencies, considering whether the outputs relative to the inputs necessary for method application were justified. The experience and outputs of the project allowed me to write a deer management plan for my study site, where I provided information on how to sustainably manage the resident deer populations.

Current Research

The DPhil I am developing is to carry out a comparison of the local social benefits that can be derived from living around national parks between the global north and the global south. The goal of this research is to explore the establishment and socio-ecological landscapes of protected areas, and to determine if the knowledge of local people can be harnessed for better social and ecological monitoring.
