Research Interests

Research problem: geophysical methods to study the dynamic Earth, with applications to hazards and natural resources

Range of research currently being conducted: studies of the Earth's deep interior; volcano seismology; carbon capture and storage; geothermal resources; plate tectonic processes

Potential DPhil projects: Seismic methods to study volcanoes; crustal structure and mantle processes in continental rifting; induced seismicity and sub-surface industries such as CCS

Research methods: machine learning; distributed acoustic sensors using fibre optics; array seismology; geomechanics modelling; seismic waveform modelling

 

Qualifications and Experience

PhD, supervised nearly 40 PhD students since 1995.
