Silvia Tardaguila Giacomozzi

Academic Profile

I completed a BA in Archaeology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2022). Here, I developed a passion for researching the interplay between humans and their environment throughout time. I came to the University of Oxford to pursue an MSc in Archaeological Science (2023), funded by a Clarendon Scholarship. My MSc Dissertation explored, from a chronological perspective, the first appearance of pottery and horticultural practices in mid-Holocene West Papua (Indonesia).

Current Research

My DPhil research aims to investigate the first arrivals of domestic and commensal animals into the Micronesian region. Conclusions have the potential to improve our understanding of how humans settled this part of the Pacific for the first time.
